The Tom Dunn Walking Trail takes you on a journey around important historical sites connected to Rostrevor's local hero, Tom Dunn and the United Irishmen. Through the audio trail app, the trail provides a fascinating heritage of the town and its unique story. The 2km route starts at the Tom Dunne statue in the Suqare adjacent to the hooping stone. The stone belonged to the McCormick's, Rostrevor;s blacksmiths - a family linked to this narrative. Tom Dunn was born in 1736 and died in 1798. According to historical records he was the local Hedge School Master and also a leading United Irishman.
